Information
Please read this information carefully and in its entirety to ensure that you have all the necessary information about our upcoming winter and spring productions. Dance is a performance art and part of the dance training process includes learning through performance. It helps build self-esteem and confidence and transitions the dancer into a performing artist. Key elements in this process are dedication to class work and commitment to rehearsals, which is the responsibility of both the dancer and their parent. Dancers often view performance as a goal and reward for all the dedication and hard work they have done in the classroom. So we've created this information packet in effort to clarify what we need from you in terms of commitment and responsibility.

Extra Practice
To ensure that students feel confident about their performance, we ask parents to encourage them to rehearse choreography on a regular basis. Please ask your instructor which music your dancer is using if you would like to practice with it.

All of our classes, rehearse during their class time. If you are not able to attend due to a family emergency, please call and leave a message with FRDC.

Backstage Volunteers
We wouldn't be able to put on this show without the generous help of our Parents Guild and backstage volunteers. Volunteer positions are listed at the information board at the FRDC studio. If you would like to volunteer please contact Mrs. Thompson for assignment. She will
contact you no later than December 7th, 2010.

We will need additional help!

At the Theater
Plan Ahead

Gather all costumes, accessories, shoes, tights and makeup several days
in advance so you'll know if something is missing or isn't right. Also,
it's always a good idea to have these items on hand:
* One extra pair of tights
* Bobby pins
* Hair spray and Hair gel
* Safety Pins
* Hairnets
* Baby Powder (great for itchy costumes)
* Baby Wipes/Shout Wipes (for makeup mishaps)

Theater rehearsals always take time. Lighting, music cues, set changes,
floor cues are organized and rehearsed for a professional performance.
We run a timely dress rehearsal; your help with the process is greatly
appreciated. Please arrive dressed and on time to ensure that your
child will be able to rehearse. We will not run dances over for late
arrivals.

On rehearsal and performance days, parents will sign their child in at
the backstage entrance and from then on they will be under the care of
FRDC staff and the backstage volunteers. If your child is in
*Pre-ballet I-III or Ballet I, please drop off your child in full hair/makeup*.

Dancers are to be picked up from the stage entrance at the end of rehearsal and performance.

If you need to speak with your child please ask one of the back stage volunteers to relay the message and/or escort your child to you.All students are required to be back stage 45 minutes before the rehearsal and performance unless otherwise directed by the FRDC staff.

Our dress rehearsal will be closed to the public. Only FRDC Staff, Production Staff, designated Parent Guild members, and volunteers will permitted in the theater at this time.
